Announcements May 28th: Mondiale 2013, CNN Write-up on the Hash House Harriers

This week's run is still Benelux downtown, but a secondary event is on for Friday evening for anyone that wants to go to check out the Mondiale de la biere, which starts Wednesday but will not be the destination, unless people wish to go afterwards.  Friday anyone who is interested in going should come Wednesday to determine the best time and meeting place for everyone.

Also saw this on CNN's homepage, nice article highlighting the fun of the HHH, but as you'll read in the article there's a bit more going on there than a run and some beers.  If you're interested there is a Montreal chapter that I have a link to below the link for the article.

Back-up for Dieu Du Ciel

Hello everyone,

With the weather improving from the reports the last few days and a large turnout expected tonight, we have created a back-up plan in case Dieu Du Ciel is too popular tonight, as is common.  We will run to DDC, however if it is too full our backup plan is La Quincallerie, on the corner of Boyer and Rachel, as is laid out in the map which can be found on the right-hand side of the site.  Another excellent destination, this bar has a nice additional import list of great Belgian and UK beers.  We'll see everyone at 7.

Rain or Shine we will still run, always!

Beer does not stop being poured when it rains, and as long as there is beer we will run!  Many people actually prefer running in the rain, natural way to rehydrate your skin and cool yourself as you go.  Should be an excellent run tonight.

Great Artice on the expenses of Marathons

Just wanted to get this story out there, the blame spreads out everywhere for the expenses of these races.  Also, Active Networks really is becoming the Ticketmaster for physical sports, so be on the look-out for their stuff if you're anti-Ticketmaster like me.

Terrace Season is now officially Open

Well after a full week of the most amazing weather everyone has accepted that it is now summer, or at the very least the beginning of terrace season.  We are very excited to take full advantage and will start calling bars in advance to prepare space for us so that we can take advantage of every Wednesday.  Thanks to everyone that is coming out to grow the club and we will be making some serious impressions on the whole city very soon with our group.

Woohoo May! We love the weather

Well I think it's time we deserved a week like this, great looking weather keeping in the low 20's is really going to be perfect for our runs the next couple of weeks.  To celebrate the fact, we have assembled a month full of our favorite destinations, including a few great terraces.

We've been very excited by our growth already this year, and continue to invite all runners and new people to the city looking for a great social club to join us.  Remember, there's no obligation to run as far or as fast as anyone else, the beer you drink at the end will taste the same no matter what.

Pray for Boston

On behalf of those of us who run, even if it is just for fun and not to the competitive level of those who were in Boston today, we send our best to everyone that has been impacted.  The Montreal Beer Runners, like the Fishtown Beer Runners who had several members in attendance in Boston, want to continue to promote the joys of running and challenging oneself in a wonderful setting surrounded with friends and loved ones.  For those that lost that joy today, we are deeply sorry and want to remind them that we will do our best to restore that happiness.

We will discuss on Wednesday what actions people may want to take in support of the victims in Boston, if you have ideas we welcome you to come and share.

Weather is turning in our favor

How's 12 and sunny sound for a good running night?  Well that's the forecast for Wednesday and I can't think of a better way to spend it than running and watching the Habs with a few beers and a few friends.

Our destination this week may be a bit smaller but we will do our best to make sure that they have room for us.  Get ready for some great beers and good food in this little NDG pub.

This is gonna be a big year

Well if I'm reading the signs correctly it looks like this is gonna be a big year for us.  We've gotten a huge outpouring of interest from people all over the city for this season, so much so that some destination bars may have to be changed to accommodate our size.

Weather should be ok for Wednesday, possible rain but if anything it should be light.  We'll see everyone at the base of the statue at 7 (we will leave by 7:10 latest, if you're going to be late you can try to find us on the mountain or just do your own thing and meet at the bar around 7:30-7:45).

April Destinations Up- Official 1st run of 2013

Welcome everyone to the official 2013 Montreal Beer Runners schedule!  While it may be a chilly start for the season, it promises to be quite the year for us.  We are looking to spread the word of our mission this year, so we've stepped up our presence to do so.

Here are our other resources for getting the word out to the community at large:

Meetup.com (free, great resource for anyone)- http://www.meetup.com/Montreal-Beer-Runners/
Facebook (c'mon, everyone uses this)- https://www.facebook.com/groups/392120524189223/

We love our first destination, Brasserie Cherrier, and they have been good to us since we started.  Please remember to bring cash, and bring an appetite for the great kitchen of Flamme!
