T-Shirts, Photos, and other General Annoucements

Hello Everyone,

We've been having another stellar summer, and no doubt our new T-Shirts are helping to turn heads each and every run.  There are plenty of shirts left for sale, and only $20 each.  If you want one shoot me a message @ greg.illson@gmail.com or by leaving a comment here or on our facebook page.  I will bring limited numbers of shirts to each run, so to be sure I have the right colour and size for you tell me in advance.

I am also noticing that we are a group that still can do more to raise our profile.  I am putting a new challenge out to all members and friends to come take more and better pictures of us.  We're such a beautiful group but no one will ever know it without pictures!

Otherwise if you are someone who has simply stumbled onto this page and have no clue what is going on, I encourage you to take the leap and come meet us at Tam Tams any Wednesday at 7pm to find out.  If you're a fan of beer at all this is the club for you.

SHIRTS ARE IN!!! COME GET THEM TONIGHT!

I won't be here next week, so I could find a way to get them to next week's run but it would be better if you come today. I'll even have the extras with me for sale if you didn't pre-order.

Don't let the sun and temperature fool you, it's still beer running season

Hey everyone, sorry it's been a little while but we've just been having too much fun with the weather.  Yes, it's cooling off and the sun is starting to come down a bit earlier, but we still have ideal conditions for our beer runs, even if the terraces are starting to close up.  We still have some of the best bars in the city to hit before the weather takes its true turn, so c'mon out to Hurley's Wednesday and join in on the fun.

Special Thursday Run with Fishtown Beer Runners

So I am very excited to announce that some members of the original beer runners, the Fishtown Beer Runners, will be joining us in Montreal for Labor  Day weekend.  As a result, we have organized an additional special run Thursday evening for the whole group to join up and mingle.  It's also a great way to burn some additional calories and prep for a weekend trip to Chambly for their annual beer festival.  Be on the lookout for an MBR organized trip on the weekend there.

Hoooooooooottttttttttttt one

Gonna be a hot one tonight people, make sure to hydrate well BEFORE the run, the after is already a given.  The path tonight will take us on the nicely shaded mountain trail, so it won't be too terrible.

Happy Canada Day- July runs are up!

Hello my Canadians and non-Canadians alike (yes, there are plenty of both that show up),

Happy of happiest Monday's, a great holiday weekend in typically the most fun month of the year.  We look forward to holding our end of the bargain in that expectation for this month with 5, yes 5, awesome destinations.  Come see every corner of the city, and even venture into parts typically overlooked for some of the best beers, and best people.

We hope to see you at 7, and we'll hold off the rain like we did all of June.

Weather Gods must like us

Well, just when you thought we would never have the rain stop, it clears up just for Wednesday night.  We sadly won't have a terrace tonight with HELM, but it should still be a great run, plus we're getting so big now I am reserving space in advance to make sure we actually get in the door!  We'll see everyone at 7.

Announcements May 28th: Mondiale 2013, CNN Write-up on the Hash House Harriers

This week's run is still Benelux downtown, but a secondary event is on for Friday evening for anyone that wants to go to check out the Mondiale de la biere, which starts Wednesday but will not be the destination, unless people wish to go afterwards.  Friday anyone who is interested in going should come Wednesday to determine the best time and meeting place for everyone.

Also saw this on CNN's homepage, nice article highlighting the fun of the HHH, but as you'll read in the article there's a bit more going on there than a run and some beers.  If you're interested there is a Montreal chapter that I have a link to below the link for the article.

Back-up for Dieu Du Ciel

Hello everyone,

With the weather improving from the reports the last few days and a large turnout expected tonight, we have created a back-up plan in case Dieu Du Ciel is too popular tonight, as is common.  We will run to DDC, however if it is too full our backup plan is La Quincallerie, on the corner of Boyer and Rachel, as is laid out in the map which can be found on the right-hand side of the site.  Another excellent destination, this bar has a nice additional import list of great Belgian and UK beers.  We'll see everyone at 7.

Terrace Season is now officially Open

Well after a full week of the most amazing weather everyone has accepted that it is now summer, or at the very least the beginning of terrace season.  We are very excited to take full advantage and will start calling bars in advance to prepare space for us so that we can take advantage of every Wednesday.  Thanks to everyone that is coming out to grow the club and we will be making some serious impressions on the whole city very soon with our group.

Woohoo May! We love the weather

Well I think it's time we deserved a week like this, great looking weather keeping in the low 20's is really going to be perfect for our runs the next couple of weeks.  To celebrate the fact, we have assembled a month full of our favorite destinations, including a few great terraces.

We've been very excited by our growth already this year, and continue to invite all runners and new people to the city looking for a great social club to join us.  Remember, there's no obligation to run as far or as fast as anyone else, the beer you drink at the end will taste the same no matter what.

Change of weather/heart, WE RUN TODAY!!

Well, today we're just going with gut instinct.  Let's hope the weather agrees with us as we officially open the 2013 Beer Runners' Season with tonight's run to L'amere a boire.  We'll get started at 7pm, leaving from 1400 avenue des pins ouest for convenience of the guaranteed runners, but welcome anyone to meet us around 7:15 at Tam Tams for the last legs of the run or directly at the bar!

Pizza and Beer- Cheap Too!

So since the bar is my place this week the system will be a bit different than usual.  Beer will only cost everyone a fraction of the bar price, but I am cash only (I suppose I can take personal cheque as well with 2 forms of ID).  In addition, we will get some yummy yummy pizza delivered in so make sure you know what you want on yours before getting on the run.

Halloween Update- Brasserie Cherrier

Ok everyone, here's the wednesday plan:

We will meet up at 1400 Ave des pins west, Apt 701 (that's Lauren and my place), 6PM. We have zombie make-up artists waiting on hand to help those of us that are challenged in that area.

Once prepped, we'll get out to the mountain and create general mayhem. We plan to have one, perhaps two videographers to record the experience. Once we're done, we'll head off to probably one of the favorite Beer Runners Destinations, Brasserie Cherrier on St. Denis (
3638 Rue Saint Denis).  Remember...THE BAR IS CASH ONLY.

If you plan on having friends join or meet us after, they are welcome for any of it. I would assume we hit the bars around 7:45-8PM

More Great Weather- Halloween Destination Needed

This really has been a fantastic year for us runners, lots of good weather (especially on Wednesdays) to really make beer running the place to be.  Looking at this week it's gonna be around 10 degrees again for the run, and the destination is one of the top beer bars in the city; easily the best located too!  The Saint Bock has almost 30 craft brews from all over the province including some award winners that they make on their own.

Also, more details regarding the mystery Halloween run are coming.  So far we know that it will begin around 6PM rather than 7, and start with meeting together so that everyone gets all zombie-fied together as we prepare to give some other runners a delightful scare.  Keep your eyes posted here and on facebook  for more details as they come.

October 1, 2012

It's October, and we're still crazy enough to be running!

Fear not everyone, the beer runners are still going, in fact we're just getting started for the fun season.  October promises to be a great month, 5 Wednesdays, 5 different great bars and a Halloween run that promises to make it a holiday to remember.  Check out the courses, get your warmer running gear out, and most importantly, bring your friends along.

Don't Be Afraid of A Little Rain

It's alright, in fact it's the best weather to run in, though at this point the forecasts seem to think that if the rain comes it will be clearing out by 7 anyways.  So if you're done with dragon boats or your marathon (congrats to all that finished this past weekend), now's a great time to enjoy the lighter side with a beer run.

If for some reason the weather does not cooperate, we can easily change the destination bar to something closer and more manageable, but what would be the fun in that?

September Runs Are Up- Other Announcements

Hello Fellow Runners:

We have some big changes going on with the club, and I'm not just talking about the weather outside.

1. Following the Lance Armstrong run where there was definitely some new interest among those who did not know us before, we decided there's no better time for a run to Benelux in a "Choose Your Own Adventure" run, where everyone can choose their own distance to go, seeing as the destination is so close.

2. September 12- There is a significant event that many of the club will attend that is in no way related to Beer Running sadly, so I have not chosen a location, though anyone who still wants to take up the standard and find something is more than welcome.

3. Runs are now officially moved up to 7PM starting this month as the sunlight is fading away quickly on us.  This is however in now way a sign that the club will be closing shop any time soon, we aim to run until the threat of our beer being frozen waiting for us as the bar is a distinct possibility.

4.  If you haven't yet, make sure to join the facebook page for more info, announcements, and silliness related to beer and running.

We're Moving The Starting Point!!!! IMPORTANT NOTICE

Ok, so since we've been having some trouble with people locating the club, using the McGill gym as a reference point has to go.  So, we've moved up the street just a bit, but it'll be a new point that sticks out much more and will not be crowded or confusing.

From now on, runs will start at the Gazebo on Parc Jeanne-Mance, just down the hill (south) of the Tam Tams monument outside the entrance to the mountain from Avenue Parc.  Runs will still start at 7:30 for now, but may switch to 7 soon to take more advantage of the dwindling daylight.

Hope this is easier for everyone and we're still proud to say that we keep growing every week and will not stop until everyone knows who we are!

Last weeks of summer, make it count!

The summer days seem to quickly be fading on us here, but we intend to make the most of it.  Tonight's run is to a great location more off the beaten path than a lot of the bars so far, but definitely a great one to check out.  The beer list tonight is 33 beers long, the terrace is still open, and there's no better place to be.  http://www.vicesetversa.com/.

Side note: We are considering changing the starting location.  If anyone has had trouble locating us please don't be shy and we can explore other start points.
